| From President, Tim McCarthy: Hello Owner/Members,
Well, the summer at the theater has taken off with a blast. Counter Productions
Take Me Out is indeed a show not to
be missed. Of course the reviews have been phenomenal so dont miss a show that is
sure to go down in Provincetown Theater history. It is on Wednesdays
and Thursdays thru August 20th.
I finished a film over the winter called:
Meth & Murder in P-town: isnt that what poetry
is about?
Ill be showing it as a fundraiser for the theater to buy projection equipment. The
shows will be Wednesday, August 12th @ 5pm
and 11pm; Sunday,
August 16th @ 2pm with community discussion to follow; and Wednesday, August 26th @ 5pm and 11pm. Admission price is $13. The film is about
the murder that occurred on Conwell Street in October of 2003.

We have two other very special fundraisers
coming at the end of August. We are working out the final details. We will have everything
arranged soon and will let you know what they are, but keep the dates of August 25 and August
30 free. You wont want to miss what we have in store for you!
And in these tough times we do have usher positions available. You usher the show and you
get to see it for free. So please call the office at 508.487.7487 ext 4.. |

| From Brian OMalley, MD, Chairman of the
Board:
We are pleased to report that The Provincetown Theater was the beneficiary of the Ruth E.
Hiebert Charitable Foundation 2009 grant cycle, in the amount of $5000. Ruth Hiebert, the
only child of the late Dr. Daniel Hiebert who served the medical needs of the community
for many years, left her estate to benefit many of the local arts, environmental, cultural
and scientific organizations that were her passion in life.
The grant we received will support our off-season operation. This is a time when we have
much less income, and when our own productions are on the boards: the Fall and Spring
Playwrights Festivals and the Winter Reading series, from our own Provincetown
Theatre Company. We are committed to year-round programming. At the same time, we
recognize economic realities, and so these programs are all very affordably priced. These
funds will help keep the Theater brightly lit, and warm!
The support of the Hiebert Foundation recognizes the importance of the year-round cultural
opportunities that the PTC presents, and allows us to continue to subsidize these
productions. We are most grateful for their recognition and support, and we will be making
application to them for ongoing funding in the next cycle, to continue our mission.

Chair of the Carnival Parade 2009
-Roger Chauvette

PTC Presence in the Carnival Parade?
As current Chair of the Carnival Parade 2009
that will roll down Commercial Street on Thursday, August
20th, I want to ask if there is any interest on the part of our membership
to participate with an entry in the parade. The theme, as most may already know, is "Summer of Love: Peace, Love and Go-Go Boots."
The entry could take the form of a large or small float, a self-propelled entry or a
walking entry.
Why participate?
The police estimate that close to 100,000 people attended the parade last year. That's
quite a captive audience. Gillette Stadium holds 68,000. Properly presented, our entry
could draw the attention of a Cape Cod wide audience. How we present it can also help
those who do not know us to come give us a try. How about an entry with a theme like
"For the Love of the Theater" or "Every Summer is a Summer of Love For
Us!" or something more clever.
As much as I would want to do it myself, I must see to the entire parade. Here's an
opportunity for many of us to work together and have fun doing it. My goal is to make the
parade an expression of pageantry and fun. Can we do it? No lines to memorize yet costumes
for everyone. Could anything be more fun? Think Hippies, hair, Woodstock, bell-bottoms...
or glitter, polyester, wide collars and Go-Go boots! Talk to Patrick L. at the theater. We
need to begin right away!. |

If
a playwright tried to see eye to eye with everybody, he would get the worst case of
strabismus since Hannibal lost an eye trying to count his nineteen elephants during a
snowstorm while crossing the Alps.
